Has anyone taken possession of a 1098, 1098S, or Tri C and is riding
it around and can give any first-hand impressions?

 Thanks
 Pjk

Yes, I have one. It is a 1098s model with the 70mm Termignoni exhaust
system. Here is a read out on a stationary device on what this
delivers:

>From a real world standpoint from my observations it is a great all
around fun bike. My best mileage to date is 33.56 MPG. The tank takes
about 2.5 gallons after you get nervous and pull in for petro. So the
last thing you do when one puts the bike to bed is fill the tank. The
first thing you do after starting it for a ride is plan your trip so
it goes between open gas stations. The gearing is way too high for
street riding using a 38 tooth rear sprocket. I have a 40 tooth on
order, but alas it has disappeared into 'back order' status. You learn
to do the 'chicken wing' to use the mirrors (lift your arm and sight
between the elbow and your body). What you see at that point is very
blurry as the mirrors hop and down like a very excited bunny. The
transmission is flawless. The brakes will impress you. The handling
under all conditions sets new standards. When you plan your trip
across town be certain to add at least 30 minutes for answering
questions when you put the kick stand down. Try one and see what you
think!
Ciao!
