showing a photo of the build plate with 1977 on it isn't so smart when claiming it's a '78 tho.
very much the 860gts look. the later darmah look 500GTS is much nicer imo, a really nice little bike i think. looks great in red whith the white stripes - lower than a darmah too. pity the pantah wasn't styled like it. motociclismo have a photo of a pantah prototype that's just that - pantah motor in a pantah style frame with 500gts bodywork, alongside a 350 single (vertical) engined gts framed bike.
one of those 'once fixed they're fine' models i've been told. motociclismo lists their main issues as weight, vibration and the 860gt based styling. pete smith at epicycle raced one from memory, and there's a ducati mechanic from brisbane somewhere (met him at training in '98) who had done thousands of km on a hotted up one without issue. both those would have been the desmo gts.
of course, parts are rather hard to get these days. we had a part or complete engine in bits at work for a long time, don't recall where it went in the end. a 'hmmm, i wouldn't mind one of those' until reality slaps you thing.
think i'd rather have an indiana.
