  You really don't want to know more either there Staton. On the
Bevelheads list we call them Paralyzed Twins. They were Ducati's
answer to small 500cc Japanese bikes at the time. They have a pretty
bad reputation. There are two reasons, one they didn't fit the oil
pumps in them very well, and they used mismatched metal plugs on the
end of the cams. They resulted in oil starvation and the big ends
blow. With a shim job on the oil pump and some other work they don't
blow up. I had one given to me, it had blown up. It was the Sport
version that even had the Desmo heads. When they were running they
were nice little bikes, handled very well. One of Ducati's unloved
