"I have a 1998 916 mono and it has an Ohlins rear shock. I seem to
remember that in 1998, the mono had Ohlins and the Biposoto had Showa.
However everyone I see tells me that is not the case. I was just
wondering if the person that owned it before me added this, or was it
stock (USA version). "
I did some research in the Standard Catalog of Ducati Motorcycles book.
According to its author US 916's were offered as Monoposto or Biposto in
1998. The Monoposto was offered with an Ohlins DU 3420 rear shock. The 916
SPS(996 cc) was offered with the Showa GD051/GD131 43 MM forks, an Ohlins
steering dampner, and the Ohlins DU 3420 Shock. So, your bike most likely
came with that shock from the factory.
