"I have a 1998 916 mono and it has an Ohlins rear shock. I seem to
remember that in 1998, the mono had Ohlins and the Biposoto had Showa.
However everyone I see tells me that is not the case. I was just
wondering if the person that owned it before me added this, or was it
stock (USA version). "
It all depends on the model you have. If my memory serves me correctly they
came with a showa shock and forks unless its an SPS or R model. The biposto
models only came with showa forks and shocks because of costs and they were
most likely not going to be seeing any track time. There is a fantastic book
I received as a gift a few years ago. The author is Ian Falloon and the
title is Standard Catalog of Ducati Motorcycles. It is an excellent
reference for such questions. You may want to pick up a copy or borrow one
from a friend. It gives the specific differences for each model and year and
has a lot of pictures.

Hope this helps,
