I agree with Brad.
Don't be lazy or slack, do it right.
Get the cam timing set correctly or at a better than stock setting.
Fit an Ultimap chip; you can get them for different cam timing settings as
well.
Set all the basic stuff where it should be and you'll have a better running
bike than patching it up with a PC.

>>How about a good over the counter chip (FIM) and a custom mapped PC. : )
Because we all know that two different bikes never map the same.
Just ask a PC owner that tried to download a generic Map for his bike.
Or a FIM chip and a dyno shop that has the software to make changes to the
chip, here in the state of AZ I know of not one......

the beauty of the pc is that it allows for poorly setup bikes - you just get
it custom mapped. and they've done an amazing job of marketing it - people
buy them fully expecting to have to spend more to get it tuned. whereas
duane used to have people saying "us$180 for a chip - that's expensive".
wacky huh.

IF the cam timing and tps baseline and balance and idle mixture setting and
fuel filter are all good, there's very little variation between required
fuelling from bike to bike when fitting chips. amazingly little when you
consider all the possible sources of error. but as i said above, people fit
pc to get around having to do all that stuff because they can't get it done
or can't be bothered or don't want to pay, etc. and that's why maps don't
transfer so well between bikes. allegedly lots of mv dealers recommend pc
and custom mapping because they can't manage to do the simple baseline
stuff. which is pretty piss poor, but reality.

i'd just fit an ultimap chip, get the idle mixture set and go from there.
but even the idle mixture bit seems to be too hard for many.
