Hopper's question brings up all sorts of images, but I'll leave that for another group.
I checked for air flow from the crankcase breather to the air intake, and found a crimp in the hose, where I had attached a wire tie to strap down the battery tender (looks kinda bonehead in retrospect). There has been more oil consumption than I would like from before the hose was crimped, but not anything serious. The original problem of the clutch seal blowing was the first visual sign, and happened at the same time as the big jump in oil use. Got a new seal (and clutch), but oil leaks were happening elsewhere, and oil use very high. I found and fixed the vent hose crimp. Oil use is way down, but now I'm seeing oil blowing out the clutch vent oils; not a lot, but enough to make me think I may have blown another clutch seal. Everything else SEEMS okay. Today it gets the aftermarket crankcase breather (just to be sure), and a once over from the mechanic. My questions are:
Have I blown another clutch seal?
Does this mean I've destroyed another set of clutch plates/discs?
Could I have blown other seals, and how do I check?
What should I do to have a bike I can safely ride home (no jokes about buying that 996S)?
Why didn't I take the Alazzurra?
I'll take any other answers you might have.
