Hope you guys (and gals) can help identify my problem. There I was, on a
bike getaway with 7 other riders, flogging the magnificent roads in the
Ozark Mountains surrounding Jasper, AR. I don't know if I've ridden the
bike as hard as I have the past week. Anyway, on my way to shredding a pair
of Pirelli Diablos in three days, I noticed a bit of oil splatter on the
inside of the right fairing of my '99 900ss. Closer inspection showed the
oil appeared to be coming from the bottom of the clutch cover. I removed
the clutch cover and found the clutch to be good and dry. The leak appeared
to be coming from the bottom bolt of the clutch cover, however, that had
worked itself loose a bit. After cleaning everything up and tightening the
bolt back down the leak stopped...temporarily. It is now leaking again.
I'm not what you would call 'mechanically advanced,' and I don't know why
oil would be leaking through that bolt hole. Ideas?
BTW, if any of you live within easy riding distance of Jasper, AR or
surrounding areas, I am envious! Beautiful country, fantastic roads, and
nearly everyone seemed really friendly toward motorcyclists (well, except
perhaps the US Forestry Park Police). Even Harley riders waved!
