Yes you should check your mirrors frequently and lane over. Some vehicles 
come up so fast you might miss them anyway. At 85 mph I'd say you were fast 
lane material and speeding ticket materials too. But believe me I'm not the 
one to be casting stones on the speeding charge.



I believe the person was technically in your lane, which is illegal in all 
states that I know of except Ca.  You were both speeding and in my state, 
SC, that could get the passer a speeding, lane splitting, and a reckless 
driving award - 6 points at least. Shame on him/her - nasty cager.
