[Ducati] new Ducati owner - clutch

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I just finished a large service on my bike,
so I've got a new fuel filter and my pump is working well - I previously had
problems with the pump relays, but I think that's a different set of
symptoms. I've also recently replaced the plug wires and checked the plugs,
so I'm pretty sure that's all good.
On the chain slack - maybe... I read the shop manual and the Haynes and am
getting different opinions. The Ducati manual seems to say that in the
middle of the run, the bottom of the chain links should be 25mm from the
bottom of the slider on the bottom of the swing arm. The Haynes says 25mm
of 'freeplay'. Is free play the same thing as that distance? Is it
desirable to set it right at 25mm or less than that?
Actually the more I think about, the more it makes sense that it's the
chain - mine looks like it's too loose any way you slice it, so too loose,
not much torque cruising with a mostly closed throttle, so not much force to
keep the chain loaded, it's too loose so it can resonate on the lower run,
it resonates, bouncing up and down that induces a very slight jerky feeling
in the bike. I've got it adjusted to be 25mm from the slider at the moment,
but I'll wait for some advice before retorquing the pinch bolts.
Thanks again guys,
John
