Just grasp it firmly and pull. It may break off but probably won't. If it 
does, it needed to be replaced anyway ...

Hello,
         New to the list and have had my new to me, 748s fall over off the 
sidestand.
My question is could anybody tell me the best way to straighten a gear 
lever.
Is heat required, or should i just apply pressure and hope for the best.

Any answers would be greatly appereciated.
