I believe it's becuase there's no formal seating up there.  Just as there is no formal seating on the entire hill that encompasses turns 5, 6, 7, and 8.   It would appear that those paying for grandstand seats get the Jumbotron.  
   
  If you've been to Sears Point (I don't like to call it Infineon), you will note that at that track they have nicely carved out seating in graduated steps that are about 30" tall throughout most of the hills surrouding the track.  I know, this is due to the NASCAR event, but SCRAMP could take a lesson from Sears Point by doing the same throughout the hill portion of Laguna Seca.  Might help stabilize the 500,000 people that they are painfully cramming in for MotoGP.  
   
  BTW, I watched qualifying on Saturday from up at the corkscrew and the race from the front row of the grandstands on turn 4---Superb.
