Thanks for the info. What I had in mind, though, was just swapping out my 
existing Marzocchi tube assemblies with the Showa units from the ST2. I 
would keep my triple clamps. This won't work?

the forks will fit into the triple clamps yes.  if you have the st2 front wheel and brakes it will all work in a carbed 900ss.  if you intend to use your carbed 900ss front wheel and brakes then the axle is wrong and the calipers have different bolt spacing.

the front guard mounting is different too.
