Post-WDW day #2.
Right now I am sitting in a hotel room in Borgo Panigale right around
the corner from the Ducati factory. WDW was a fantastic experience,
but the last 3 days of riding were very much the highlight.
If you make the trip set aside LOTS of time to ride. Two unique and
memorable rides I would recommend.
1. Trento -> Bormio - The ride will take you across the Passo della
Tonale and the Passo della Gavia. The passes are very different.
Tonale has sweeping and winding roads, regular spots to stop and good
pavement. By contrast Gavia is steep, one-way (with two way traffic)
and bumpy.
2. Bormio -> Stelvio+ - The Stelvio Pass (6th highest in Europe and
highest in Italy according to Motociclismo) is the best ride I have
have ever experienced. I currently live in LA and ride Angeles Crest
and Malibu. I used to ride Skyline and Marin when I lived in SF. This
ride is on another level. The road on both side leading to the climb
and decent are fantastic sweepers and great all around sport riding.
The road climbing and descending is a significant test of your
hairpin and slow speed riding. It was a blast.
