[Ducati] Heat and roads (was: Kevin's Summer Trip)

I agree that it's very hard to beat the SF Bay Area for the combination of great roads and good weather. That said, and with limited experience in the various states on my trip, I am compelled to report that southern Montana had the best combination of great roads (fast and twisty), good lines of sight (in addition to some fun "which way does it go after that rise" moments), and very few cops. When I was there, the weather cooperated, and I was never wet or too hot. As I passed through Idaho, it seemed similar, only with fewer roads (and fewer cars/cops), but I only passed through. As for northern Nevada, all I need to say is "desert, lots of desert." This is not the place to have fun on an air cooled Ducati sport bike (although I still got looks of amazement, and odd comments from strangers when stopped for gas or food).
And, I wouldn't say it gets better in terms of heat after you come through the Sierra, but after you come through the central valley and into the Bay Area proper.
