If more than 500m or so on the oil, change it. Add a bit of dry gas to the STABIL mix. Absorbs the water that forms in the tank over winter with all the temp variations and settles in the lowest parts of the tank seams and rusts them out. Don't start it weekly, just adds moisture to the crankcase and exhaust pipes. Definately put the battery on a trickle charge smart tender. I cover my bikes with cheapo sheets that breathe instead of a bike cover that holds in moisture. Adding a rolled up old sock plugs the exhaust pipes and helps keep mice out. Add mouse traps around the bike and keep an eye on them (or risk chewed wiring in the spring). Check the archives for old posts and article on "Pickling" for more details.
