[Ducati] Winter Storage Question

As I'm new to the list and also to my 748s I have a question for the many experienced here.
For reasons, including winter I will be storing my bike for at least six months, should I detach the battery, pour some oil down the cylinders, put up on a stand and leave it alone for the period, or do as I am doing, and start and run it to temperature once a week?
I am curious as to what most would think?
