As long as I remember my father has sworn about this stuff and every once in
a while it bears fruit. From working on a VW when I was in high school to
restoring compression to acceptable limits on the O-230 in our lil' Grumman
aircraft postponing a need for overhaul by many hundreds of hours. I don't
know what's in the stuff but it's often an effective treatment, for a while at
least.
