[Ducati] 500SL electrical problem

hi all,
thanks to those who answered my previous query about getting a  
regulator for my 500SL Pantah.  I've since sourced a new one via  
Electrex and put it on the bike. However now, with a fully charged  
battery (reading 12.45v), I'm getting no current to the dash lights  
at all. I'm also pretty close to giving up on this particular lesson  
and taking it to the local mechanic to get sorted/take my medicine.

History of this problem is that I had to get a new battery and, in  
too much of a hurry I hooked up the regulator wrong and likely killed  
it (other leads to the battery were hooked up correctly. What I don't  
know now is whether I've damaged anything else.

Any thoughts?
