[Ducati] swelled head

71 degrees in N. Jersey yesterday. Go figure. Did about 50 odd miles of random riding through our urban sprawl. Stopped at an outdoor gear store on a major highway. You all know the drill. Can't be on the track all the time, so you gets your little pleasures as you can. I'm slowing to get off the highway into the store's parking lot- I wait longer than necessary to get off the gas so I can backshift more aggressively than normal to revel in a more track-like auditory experience as I slow. ('94 ss/cr-open airbox, nicely jetted, Staintune high pipes, Cycle cat stuff, carbon, Ti trinkets....). I pull into a parking slot, kill the motor, and before I can get my helmet off, I hear a mature male voice enthusiastically say, "Wow!" I turn to look, and there is a 60'ish fellow standing about 10 ft away, looking at the bike. He continues-"That is just about the prettiest thing I have ever seen in my life". We then had a short pleasant chat about the bike-things like, "This must be brand new, right?, or I have heard of Ducatis, but never saw one before, to How does this compare to something like a Sportster of that year?" (Pause for chuckle...). It was just a fun few moments, you know? And there's nothing cooler than hearing the prettiest thing comment about your bike. Maybe setting off the occasional car parked car alarm as you go by on decel.

So who is going to the New Blue thing at Ducati NYC, or more so, who will be at the bike show at the Javits? Maybe we could arrange a time to meet at the Duc display to put some faces to names. I think we're going on Sunday. Advice to anyone who has not been there before-buy your tickets online in advance. You will regret not doing so........
