Tennessee DOT has approved re-opening the ferry across the TN River at
Danville in Benton County connecting to HWY 147 at McKinnon in Houston
County. HWY 232 (that is very close)is an excellent road.
I have not heard the date when this will happen.
There is an operating ferry at Cumberland City across the Cumberland River
on HWY 46, also an excellent road. FYI.

Hopper,
The only operating ferry left on the Tennessee river is the Old Washington
Ferry that runs next to the new Hwy 30 bridge, just for nostalgia's sake.
It's north of Chattanooga near between Pikeville and Athens, TN.
The only ferry I know that was west of Chattanooga was the old Brown's
Ferry, and it's been closed for YEARS!!!
Cheers,
Cloner
Chattanooga, TN

Scot Cloniger over yonder in Chattanooga....Is that ferry still there that
is to the west of Chattanooga? We used to do the HW 41/I24 down out of
Monteagle and ride into Chattanooga. There was an olde british bike shop
we'd check out there. We'd use the ferry just for the fun of it. A bit out
of the way but neat! I was living in Manchester at the time and working at
the wind tunnels at AEDC. FANTASTIC riding country all over there. Miss the
heck out of it. Beautiful countryside, hott beautiful lady folks and good
whiskey! I was 11 miles from George Dickel and 26 miles from Jack Daniels.
Couse back then it was a Norton Commando or a BSA Rocket Three or a
Triumph Trident that I was terrorizing the country with.
Hopper...drifting back in time....
