Geez, how much did you pay for that tool? Did you not see my post, I think I used a bolt some 6mm all thread and a socket and made a rocker shaft extractor in something like 30 minutes. Those Ducati hollow bolts are really good for something. You are using the basic idea of a puller, some piece of that tool screws into end of rocker shaft and some part of that tool works against a fixed surface which will back out the rocker shaft. What I did was use a hollow bolt and tap it to taqke 6 mm thread, screw that in with the right size socket and the threading in pulls shaft out nice as you please. See Richs Tools on Arch's website. Do not pull shaft out more than about 1/2" Pull it out to far and you just created more work for ourself as the closing spring is wrapped around that shaft. Pull it out and then you have to reseat the spring. Which can at times be a pita. Ask how I know. The rocker shafts can at times not even be that tight. I have on occassion about pulled em out
without a tool, as the cover actually holds them in place. You dont really want them spinning around though so if a little loose a bit of bearing retaining compound is a good idea. You could almost makea tool with the right size socket, a 6mm bolt and some washers. the idea is as you screw in bolt against the socket it pulls the rocker shaft out. Of course the socket and bolt length have to about match so you can just get threads started in rocker shaft before it tightens up against socket, then crank away and shaft should pull out. Hey, hey hey... and pay attention here. Do not run out and buy every Ducati tool you think you need. Many are expensive and several have been copied. Heck I think I have made about 100 head nut wrenches. So ask here first, lots of folks have made something that works without the factory tool. Now there are tools worth having....save your bucks for those. Rich

First off thanks to all of the helpful postings in regards to cam
extraction. But the main problem I'm having is using the rocker pin
extractor tool, and how to use it . I purchased the tool from
www.desmotimes.com, and I can't contact them without being on the
message board which I can't seem to get on to. Any ways if you guy's
could tell me how to use this tool, and once it is screwed in, how do
I use the lock nut and what are the rest of the pieces on the tool
for. I don't know if I just pull hard straight out, or do I screw it
out, I am really in the dark with this tool and pulling the pin out.
I am a pure rookie with this part of it.

Barry
