Have you pulled the rocker shaft out a bit and slid the rocker to the side? YTou do not slide the rocker back over until the cam is in place. ANd when you slide cam back in place you need to be conscious of what position lobe is in you will have to trun cam over by hand to find that sweet spot that will allow it to slide in and the rocker to slid over. Of course if your clearances are too tight it can hit even the back side of lobe cause it is that side you are actually set clearance to. So if tight cam will hit. There is not forcing involved of any kind. Just rotate cam around as you slide it in. And keep that one racker to the far right. One of the last things you do after reinstalling cam is to push the rocker shaft back in and put that cover back on. The key is to rotate cam around as you go in. Rich

Subject: [Ducati] 748 Cam Lobe extraction

Hey All

Well I have managed to get the front cam lobe of the vertical
cylinder out. But I am having a hard time with the rear cam lobe.
When I look inside it looks like one of the cam lobes is catching a
slight ridge on the chrome of the right side opening rocker. Its very
difficult to keep the bottom rocker depressed while trying to reach
over and pull at the cam. Any Suggestions.

Barry
