Sounds like Baby my beloved Rot. Except when the wife is gone Baby sleeps
with me and she still thinks she's a lap dog....Sheesh! Oh and she does know
when someone is threatning my Duc.
Peace...Ron"Desmohead"Betts 95 900 SP
I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it!

>Yes, glad that everyone is ok. A very disturbing incident.
>
>I have a Ridgeback. She is the sweetest dog and one of the smartest I have
>ever seen. They are supposedly known for being "discriminating" in their
>reaction to threats to the humans, real or imagined. What I mean by that is
>that they seem to bark and react to only real threats. So when the dog
>barks, you know it means something. A neighborhood cat or nonagressive dog
>will not trigger a defense reaction in our dog. Her reaction is to greet
>them and sniff them. But a coyote or agressive dog triggers a strong and
>firm action.
>
>They are smart and strong willed dogs that need discipline as puppies. They
>do sleep alot, and they tend to be asleep or very active. Not a good choice
>for people that work a lot or are gone all day. They need attention when
>they demand it or they will find some property to chew or otherwise direct
>their attention. They love human attention.
>
>But our Ridgeback is the best all-around dog I have ever had. I would
>recommend the breed, a mix, or a rescue ridgeback to anyone with the
>resources to keep them.
