[Ducati] 851 Starter Sprague Clutch

Hello All,
I'm helping a friend get his '91' 851 back on the road.  The spring surrounding the starter sprague has failed. 
 
We've already done the trick of shortening the spring to get a few more miles out of it, but now it needs to be replaced.  In talking to several dealers the spring is only available from Ducati as an entire starter clutch assembly .  
 
Does anyone out there know of a source or substitute for the spring by it self??  Any of you have a hand full of them on a back shelf...??
