Oh, plenty of violence, I hear storys of fights with trucked in union busters and the extensive use of wrist rockets at the refinery I work in. I'v just never felt threatened by my fellow workers at any union shop, have shot off my mouth whenever I felt the need and would regard that kind of violence as a rare exception.

but obviously it means a lot to you, and you feel some need to
discount my story, so here we are. I don't have any Google records I
can point you to, just a strong childhood memory from 45 or 50 years
ago. Maybe the recollection has become distorted over time, maybe
I'm a pathological liar, maybe all those drugs in the 60's are coming
back to haunt me. Believe what you will. It was my father and my
childhood, and I really don't care what you think. I wasn't sure
whether I should post such a personal thing in the first place, and
you've convinced me that I shouldn't have. But I'll never forget the
fear and anxiety of being awake in the middle of the night while my
mother frantically called my father's friends and co-workers, trying
to find out why he hadn't come home from the meeting in a city 35
miles away. I really hope it never happens to you.

And if you really believe that there's no violence in the unions'
histories, then take a reality pill and do some more Googling.
Peace, indeed.
