I haven't been on this list in years. I spend all my time on the
Bevelheads list. For those of you who are new or don't remember me
I'll introduce myself and my bikes. I am Tom Rolland from Albuquerque,
New Mexico. I have a real weakness for old Ducati's, especially
Roundcase Beveldrives. I have three 750 GT's, a '73, a '74 and another
one that's built completely from parts I have gathered up, so it's
pretty much a '74. If you ever want to build a Roundcase 750 from
parts I'd suggest you not do it, they were pretty limited production
bikes and alot of the parts are made from Unobtanium. A little
history, the Roundcase 750's were the first V twin Ducati ever made,
they came in three versions, the GT, Sport and Super Sport, total
production in the three years ('72-'74) (OK, some preproduction '71's
were also made) was about 7,500 total. So they are fairly rare
classics. If you want to see what they look like and the restoration
process just google Ducati belt buckles. There are links there to the
pics of the restorations, my trip to the first WDW in Italy and my
trips to Oz/Nz and back to Oz. And yes I make Ducati belt buckles to
pay for my bikes and my trips.
Speaking of trips I am going back to Europe again this coming
summer. I just bought a '91 900SS over in England on Ebay. It's
already been picked up for me by a friend, so it's waiting for me.
Pretty nice looking bike, yellow, white frame, old style DUCATI
lettering on the tank, half fairing, alot of miles at 55k, but the
price was sure right too at 840 Pounds, a little less than $1,700. I
plan on being in Europe for a month, may just do alot of England,
Wales and Scotland, by may run down to the WDW in Italy too, just have
to see. At present I am keeping my eye out on Ebay for a set of bar
risers. So if anyone has a set just sitting around and wants to sell
them please drop me a note. I rode a friend of mines 900SS from LA to
Laguna some years back and it was the most uncomfortable ride I'd ever
been on. A set of bar risers should make the days in the saddle over
in Europe alot more enjoyable. Thanks Tom
