Are the engine mouting points very different between the two frames? How
much frame fabrication would be involved in such a project?

My proposal would be to make an air-cooled version of the 999 chassis and
swingarm with different bodywork. The 999 has a lower seat height which
makes sense on a street bike and allows it to fit a wider range of people.
It is now an outdated piece a hand me down but never a slouch in the
handling and comfort department. Redesign the body work make it simpler and
cheaper to build and you have a real winner.

Alex:
Why don't you build the prototype just like P.T. should have done and sell
Ducati on the idea. This is what American Ducati owners want. Don might
pay $20,000 for one. It might work into a job as Ducati's chief designer
:-) ...and if not, you've got the bike of your dreams.
