[Ducati] LDC: Single Cylinder Engines

The old Rotax single, leaned to the max with water cooled, 3 plug, twin
cam heads, bored and stroked to 676 cc's, and cryo'd 6 sp boxes (yes,
about $12,000 for the engine, ready to race) will make over 83 HP at the
crank, but they are like a superbike engine with short top end lives
requiring steady rebuilds and the bottom end is about double the life of
the top end. Jeff Nash admitted that the only single that gave him a
race on his Supermono was Wood's 676 racers (he built 11 single cam and
5 twin cam). Like an idiot, I own 2 of them. And I made one street
legal, albeit with a Darcy built motor making maybe 65 RWHP, complete
with a BUTTON! Did I mention the $100/month operating cost to cover the
Loc Tite, not to mention filling replacements?
