My personal little peeve is the rubber cap over the positive lead on the starter. In the best of conditions those things are water traps. Pull it back, drain it out, and apply dialectric grease to the area. I'd take the nut off and sand the contact area on the starter, the backside of the nut, and the ring shank on the wire first ...
