I did put on two light coats and then a thicker, wet coat of clear all at
the same time (waiting about 15-20 minutes between coats, or whatever the
clear coat called for). I didn't buff the clear - I had runs from the last
coat and needed to fix those anyway. But I could still see all those little
scratches. Actually the clear made them pop out a lot more which is why I
started sanding again. Maybe they're bigger than what you're thinking of
and I do just need to sand some more...
