[Ducati] Refinishing carbon fiber

Hi guys,
I've got a Ducati Performance carbon fiber air intake runner that I've been
working on refinishing. It was cracked in a few spots, so I patched the
inside with some fiberglass, kevlar and epoxy. Then I ground out the resin
on the outside where it had seperated from the carbon and refilled those
spots with epoxy. Then I sanded, a lot. I tried reclearing it once already
after sanding up to 400 grit, but all that did was show up all the tiny
little scratches that were still on the part. So I resanded and now I'm
working on 600 grit (wet sanding). However, I can still see tiny scratches
if I take the part out in the sun to look at it. I've read here if you go
past 600, you can have trouble with the clear coat sticking to the part. So
before I reclear, what I'm wondering is if I haven't sanded adequately if
I'm still seeing these scratches, or if the smaller scratches from 600 grit
will not be visible after clearing over them. The part is actually starting
to get a small amount of gloss just from the sanding...
Any advice appreciated,
John
