[Ducati] Fw: ebay feedback

Personally, I hope there is a special place in hell for Ebay sellers who
withhold feedback till the see what is left for them. Don't know how many
times I've waited for my feedback to show up, only to be dissed w/nothing
when I finally do give up & leave theirs. Too bad they can't come up with a
way for you to leave feedback, which they won't receive (or see) till they
leave something for you. Kind of a double-blind system. Then, if there's a
dispute, that can be worked out later. My idea may leave a bit to be
desired, but at least it's a start.

[end rant] That is all...

I have always disagreed with the eBay feedback system. I have complained to

them a few times. As a buyer, once you complete payment your part in the
transaction is over. I personally believe the seller should be forced to
leave feedback first. Otherwise you may not leave accurate feedback in fear

of retaliation.

I bought an NOS Pirelli MT53 off of this guy. The tire in the photo was
beautiful and I needed one for my resto. Unfortunately the tire that showed

up wasn't the tire in the photo. The center two rows of tread blocks didn't

have any sipes. It looked really bizarre with these two bands of solid
tread blocks running all the way around the center of the tire. So I told
the guy I couldn't use the tire and wasn't happy spending a bunch of money
on it when it wasn't the the tire in the photo, especially since his auction

specifically instructed buyers to look at the photo. He agreed to refund my

money including shipping. I told him I was leaving him a neutral feedback
because of the misrepresentative photo but would explain that he had made it

right(you can see the feedback I left, it was on 8-16 at 7:05). That's when

he got all mad and threated retaliatory feedback because my feedback made it

'not a positive experience' for him. You can read what transpired below.
It's a funny argument he makes about what big favor he did for me fixing his

own mistake, etc. Just a heads up to the list that this guy may retaliate
with negative feedback if things don't go his way and you feel you need to
leave less than positive feedback. I ended up having to withdraw my
feedback to protect my own rating because I didn't trust he wouldn't leave
me a negative and ebay won't do anything about retaliatory feedback. The
stupid thing is that while the neutral feedback was removed from his score,
it didn't remove the comments, and the score wasn't affected in the first
place so I don't know what he thinks he gained. Some kind of moral victory,

I guess. Anyway, just beware.

Scott,
I do know that. That is not the point! I could have said the tire is a
Pirelli MT53 like the ad says and if you don't like it you return it at your

cost. Or I didn't have to look the the rest of the 2000 tire we have for a
replacement. Or send a UPS retrun shipment lable to make it easy for you.
That is the part that bothers me. I did go out of me way to make this as
right as I could and still got the neutral feedback.
So if neutral feedback is "no harm, no foul" then you woun't be bothered if

I left you neutral right? The best way that I feel is that we both just
don't leave feedback for this transaction. If you take back the neutral, we
will not leave feedback.
Thanks Ray

Yes, Ray, I make mistakes. But the difference is that I don't hold them
against the other guy if he's not satisfied. If I put a photo of a Honda
4-door Accord on ebay and sold it then delivered a two-door I wouldn't
expect the guy I sold it to give me a positive feedback because 'they're
both Honda Accords'. If you can't accept that using a 'stock' photo of a
siped tire to sell an unsiped tire might possibly bring you a neutral
feedback then we'll simply have to disagree. A positive transaction would
have been one where I got the tire that was in the photo, not another tire
with a different tread. ESPECIALLY when it is your own item description
that makes SUCH A BIG DEAL about the photo being an extension of the
description. As a buyer this transaction wasn't good, it wasn't bad, it was

NEUTRAL. If you're honest you'll at least explain in the feedback you leave

me that the reason it's not positive is because you're mad about my
feedback. By the way. You do know that neutral feedbacks don't count in
your feedback score don't you? Positive = +1, negative = -1, neutral = 0.
They're designed to be a "no harm, no foul". I guessing you don't know that

by how upset you are over this.

    Scott,
Sorry but I don't agree. The tire shown in the photo was a Pirelli MT53

as stated in the ad. Not a completely different tire as you state. It just
didn't have the sipes in it. I don't, as others do, take a picture of every
tire when there are more than one of the same tire to list. I did explain
that to you. I can't say it was a positive experience and can't leave
positive feedback for the transaction. It didn't end up good to me. As an
honest buyer I do think the feedback you left was not correct. What I hear
you saying is that no one should ever make any mistakes and if they do they
should pay the price. Do you make mistakes Scott?
I wish it didn't have to be this way as we are good sellers as or
feedback states. 30,000 total feedback and only 14 negitives? I think that
speaks for its self. I did put you on the non bidder list It's too bad as we

did just buy a large lot of British Triumph BSA and Italian Ducati parts
that will be on ebay soon.
    Thanks Ray

Ray, I'm sorry you're not happy with the feedback I left on this
transaction. Considering all of this happened because your item and photo
did not match I hardly think it was bending over backwards to make things
right for me. I consider it to be your responsibility as an honest seller
who made a mistake. I didn't leave a neutral because it took so long to get

a refund. I left a neutral because your photo was of a completely different

tire. I agree that you made the outcome a good one in the end by refunding
all of my money, and that's why I said so in your feedback. As far as the
implied threat of leaving me an 'appropriate' feedback rating, my payment
was made within minutes of closing the auction and I feel I was very
understanding and patient of the whole situation. I lived up to every
responsibility I had as a buyer so the only honest feedback for me as a
buyer would be positive. I'm sorry if at the last minute you decide to turn

this honest-mistake-made-good into a bad experience because you want to take

a shot at me for leaving an honest feedback assessment.

        Hi Scott,
Sorry about the late payment return but Gina was out of town. I
feel we have bent over backwards to make this transaction a good one in the
end for both of us and we still got a neutral. I looked for another tire to
satisfy you and send a return label to make life easy for you. I guess we
will leave the appropriate feedback also.
        Thanks Ray

I did receive the refund. Thank you. I'm going to leave a
neutral feedback because of the incorrect photo, but will state that full
restitution was made on the item.
