They cut sleeping people out of tents with minutes to spare. We just had a similar situation here this week (I'm in Ohio). We got about 8 feet of water in just over an hour. The bike shop was located at the bottom of the area the water was flowing too (we are on a ten foot elevated slab thank goodness) and everything around us was under water to over the roofs of all the cars and trucks in what seemed like minutes. We were trying to get to the airport so I was out in it when it started, had to abandon our van and try and wade back but the water was coming so fast we ended up wading in rushing, rising water up to our chests trying to find a route to dry land that wasn't over our heads, carrying a shivering little dog with lightening and thunder scaring him to bits. You had to keep your feet on the ground and just shuffle because otherwise the stream would knock your feet out from under you. If you are wondering why they didn't move the bikes it's because when it happens it's of such biblical dimensions it's all you can do to save yourself. I just put up a gallery of photos - see for yourself:_http://ducati.smugmug.com/Other_ (http://ducati.smugmug.com/Other) Vicki
Sorry to hear about the flood. I used to do business with a small retailer in Mansfield, Don Nash, who was a super guy.
Someone mentioned the Guzzi flood. For more details see, http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=12b52cc66bbf8b5259a31e898dd9f355&topic=13196.0
