[Ducati] fix or part out '93 900ss

It seems everyone agrees that I should fix it. If I was back in Texas or
California then I would be better positioned to work on it. Here in
Vancouver I live in a high rise so I don't have a garage. I do have a front
and rear stand so dropping the motor won't be too hard and then I could work
on it in my little shoebox sized apartment.

I don't have access to any tools other then a socket set and what I have in
my little toolbox. I do have a couple of torque wrenches. Just guessing, I
would need some sort of bearing press and helpful shops are hard to come by
up here.

Right now I am thinking that I would have to replace the main and connection
rod bearings as well as pistons and rings. To do the valve seats would I
have to send off the head? I don't have anyway to grind them. All this is
from looking at the Haynes manual.

Getting parts would be a chore too. The local shops up here are useless in
that regard. Does anyone know of a mail orders source in Canada or should I
just plan on trying to use Bike Bandit?

I do have some experience working on bike engines. I used to help my
mechanic rebuild engines on my race bikes, mostly F2's and FZR400's. I have
also rebuilt a RM250 once, but working on the 900SS engine might be beyond
me. But part of me thinks that this would be a great opportunity to make it
better.

Any realistic predictions on getting it running? What might be needed? I'm
sure there are lots of people who have rebuilt these things. Any pitfalls
that I may need to watch out for?

Thanks for all the comments,

_Kris
