OUCH. Hey, I didn't get a ticket, did I? (re: I didn't really remember what happened on a ride with Peter when I had a solo accident near Kerrville where I hit the pavement after going over the bars and knocking myself out.....I speculated that I was avoiding a deer to the state trooper during his investigation) Just so you folks know, that TX state trooper called to check up on how I was doing a few days after the accident and provided a copy of the police report (sans ticket) for my insurance. Pretty good guy.
In typical insurance fashion (we're talking health insurance, here), they wouldn't pay for the ambulance ride because having been concussed and separated one elbow and hyperextended the other, my accident and injuries didn't warrant the need for an ambulance ride. I guess the car that came up on my unconscious body in the road should have known I wasn't that badly injured, and/or I should have refused the ambulance ride and put my thumb out and hitched a ride to the hospital. I ended up paying for it out of my pocket. At least it wasn't getting back with medivac. I like to be conscious if I am paying that much for a chopper ride.
Anyway, are those deer whistles (mounted on the hoods/fenders of many a bubba truck in TX) effective in lowering the chances of intersecting a deer on the road? I have always wondered if they drive deer away from the point source or just cause deer to panic and run, and possible increasing the chance of an accident.
