I prefer a propane tank and a 4" dia heating torch for those pesky grasshoppers....At night, it is almost as good as fireworks. Just kidding: No grasshoppers were ever injured intentionally during this lifetime. Can't afford to have grasshopper blood thrown on me, and grasshopper kharma can be ruthless.

Can't resist adding to this any longer. A friend and I were riding some
back roads SE of Merced, CA when there were suddenly so many grasshoppers on
the road that traction became a real issue. These are fun roads but we were
riding at a snails pace because the turns were treacherous. This went on
for at least a few miles. It wasn't the dirtiest my bike has ever been but
it was certainly the grossest. We pulled out the old M-16s and started
blasting away.
