[Ducati] 90's SS frame question

Hello. I  had my 900ss/cr's frame replaced by Ducati due to a  fracture near 
the steering head. Before putting the new frame on the bike I  was going to 
have it powder coated so figured now would be the time to  tinker. Anyone have 
experience with reinforcing the stock frame? Thank  you.
