Too bad you didn't prep that P500 bike better before storing it. I've had two bikes in storage since 93 and both get a twice annual soaking in WD40. I fogged both engines long ago and re-do it every couple of years. No rust, no pitting. Engines turn easily (with plugs out) by hand.
