Somebody needs to send you a copy of the Discovery Channel's Planet Earth
series. It may not be motorcycle related but it's about as good as TV can get.
I don't suppose anybody is taping it? Or anything interesting we can send
Stephen so he doesn't wither away from boredom? :-)

As some of you know I celebrated one year of being cancer free in February
only to discover I had heart problems in March. I went in
for a routine angeogram (sp?) and ended up with an emergency triple by-pass.
My cancer surgery was a walk in the park by comparison.
Unlike last year, this year I have had a very slow recovery. So what's a guy
to do when ya can't lift, push or pull anything over 5
pounds? I still can't get high speed out here so I can't even enjoy surfing
the net. Well I sit and veg out in front of the tube. I
tell ya there is nothing and I mean NOTHING decent on daytime TV! And that
includes Speed channel!
So, I dug out about 80 VHS tapes I had recorded over the years. My O my what
great programs we use to get.
Now comes my rant.
Not that long ago we use to get unsurpassed WSB coverage. Including, a half
hour show mid-week that gave a recap of the last race
weekend and previews of the next. It also included great rider bios and
in-depth interviews. Plus, behind the scenes tech stuff.
Same goes for WRC. Rally Magazine was great at doing the same types of
things as the WSB show did. Plus, the weekend rally action
was more in-depth. The photo coverage of the Special Stages was superb too!
I'm part way through my collection of the 16 round 2004
WRC season videos and I'm really pissed that I can't follow the '07 season
like this.
No, instead we get hours and hours of NASCAR Crap! Tradin' Paint, Back in
the Day, NASCAR Today etc. and reruns add noisome. And
don't get me started on those "American Biker Lifestyle" or so called
reality shows like Chop, Cut Regurgitate! YUK!!!!
OK, so yes I'm happy with Speed's keeping some of it's programming like
MotoGP and Le Mans coverage. But really people, when I look
back at these videos and realize what we've lost, I just want to cry.... :-(

A very unhappy grumpy old man am I.

the Dreamer
