Hey Kevin -
Don't forget the Black Hills and Sturgis. Be sure to have a brat somewhere
in Wisconsin. The Brat House on State Street in Madison used to have the
best. Of course, that was when I was going to school there in another
century. It looks like the name has been changed to State Street Brats.

When you're in Milwaukee, have dinner at Crazy Water.

It's in an old corner tavern and has some of the best food you will ever
taste. Mention my name to Peggy (the owner) and they might not throw you
out.

I will be leaving for Lagooner on Monday, July 16. Andy Smith and I are
trucking two bikes (his new 1098 and my Sport Classic). A buddy of mine is
tagging along and we are planning on driving straight thru. I'm not sure ya
wanna try and hang with us.

Subject: [Ducati] Trip round the country

I'm trying to get a little more concrete about my itinerary. Here's what I
have so far:
1) The route (suggestions and caveats encouraged and appreciated): Oakland
CA, Ashland OR, (Newport OR) Seattle WA, Alberton MT, Milwaukee/Chicago
(I-94 or I-90?, and where to stop, and what to see?), Indianapolis,
Cleveland, Hartford, Purcellville VA, Murphy NC, (TX?) Phoenix AZ,
(Bakersfield?), Laguna Seca.
There are still some gaps (I'm not riding from VA to TX in one shot). As I
look at the map, and run Mapquest trips, I appreciate just how big the
country is and how long it will take to get across it.
2) The time table. Leave Oakland 6/18, Seattle 6/20, get near Milwaukee (and
Giuseppe) by 6/25, Harford by 6/28, and Purcellville by 6/30. I am
tentatively planning for 2-3 more days to get across the country, to allow
for rests, motorcycle maintanence, sight-seeing and visiting (maybe even
some local road riding). I have not worked out any details for the return
trip yet, except I hope to leave VA about 7/8, and get to LS 7/19. If Anyone
is headed west for the motogp at LSeca, I could use some company (George?,
Scott?)
Does this look realistic? Are people going to be home if and when I come by?
Any other suggestions?
Travel light, travel fast, but stop often and look around.
