[Ducati] mufflers/pipes

What business is that?

I put a LeoVince 2:1 setup on my bike without removing the
udder. Dyno'ed it before and after (Cliff's Ducati in CT). The
difference was practically negligible -- about a 2% hp/torque
increase with the LeoVince.

I decided I wanted to get rid of the udder (and the 15 lbs of metal
it encompasses) and replaced it with the (5 lb) Sparks straight
header and a Sparks dual side exhaust. Put on a Power Commander and
did the dyno setup again. Difference was pretty stark: The before
setup with the udder and cored factory cans was 75hp/53 ft lbs and
with the Sparks setup was 84hp/62ft lbs. Ducati claims hp at the
crank as 77 so I was pretty happy that I managed to get 75.

The torque curve showed a nearly identical plot for both, except the
Sparks setup had the incremental increase. The advantage of using
the PC is the ability to adjust the fuel/air mix at every
step. Without the grid in place, it was hard to see the difference.

In my experience from the Dyno, the udder added nothing but back-end
restriction, noise suppression and weight!
