when you say "jump pack" are you referring to one of those 
rechargeable battery packs with jumper cables?

if so, i doubt that is the problem, I use one all the time for my 
bikes i have in light storage.  the battery inside is usually just a 
large motorcycle battery anyhow.

it just sounds like something is not right.  same thing happened t oa 
guy i know.  turned out to be wiring -- mice had chewed his primary 
wires and a few others and was grounding on the frame.

more info on the jump pack tho.  it's not the kind you plug in to use 
is it?  one of those 2/20/55 battery chargers?
