Dear Mike D. Bike,
Thank you for your 'enlightened' response. I have read respectfully what
you have to say. And I have a response for you.
My intent here is not to dwell on the specifics of your remarks but the
biting tone in which it was sent.
I don't contribute much here mainly because I would rather be out riding
than writing something that has little value to add on top of the valued
opinions of those who know something about the subject thread. This forum
encourages open-minded exchanges and information sharing. Your response was
a little inaccurate and misguided. It is clear that you are an expert at
something which you know nothing about. For whatever limitless inadequacies
you are trying to make up for with an ego of monolithic proportions, I am
not impressed.
Clearly no one wants their insurance rates to go up. Neither is anyone
immune from making mistakes. After flying fighters for over 20 years I've
made my share and I have learned from them. Flying, like riding is an
endeavor that has a low tolerance for mistakes. During mission debriefs I
was used to brutal honesty, but it came from imminently qualified critics.
It was an essential element in order to maintain the highest standards with
a goal of flawless execution.. One of the things that you learn quickly
before you lose the confidence and faith of your wingmen is to take your
lumps, don't whine, accept the knocks with grace. Honor and integrity are
concepts that warriors live and die by. Fools were not suffered lightly.
Look around this forum. Mark it well. The Ducati net is not going to
remember what you or I have to say here. Day after tomorrow it will be long
forgotten. But this, however, will endure; RESPECT. In this forum respect
goes a lot further than rudeness. Consider this the very embodiment of my
retort to your immature response.
I have humbly admitted to my own buffoonery and to the insurance company.
The answer to the question is they will cover a collision claim sustained
during a track day. I hope you never have an accident.
very respectfully,
Chris
P.S. --One more thing. One of the unwritten rules in the fighter community
applied to assignment of a callsign. It was considered poor form to come up
with one for yourself, lest you risk making it seem like you are trying to
be cool.
