Having read all the interim responses I wouldn't have bothered posting this
question.

I posted the reply at 08:36 GMT+1 on 31st August and I see it arrived
nearly two days later.  In fact the first one of my three was sent nearly
two days earlier than that.  Perhaps their travelling surface mail?
