[Ducati] Yamabond 4 question

This is my first time using Yamabond 4. This tube is a little  'runny' and 
'stringy' compared to other sealants I have used (Permatex). The  tube indicated 
it was best to use within one year of manufacture. Although it is  a newly 
purchased package, I don't know how long it was sitting on the  shelf at the 
dealer. Can anyone indicate whether I should be able to get a  'bead' with this 
stuff or did I probably get an old tube. Thank you.
