Then stop thinking in biblical terms, and realise these fine athletes are aware, that without "luck", providence, GOD, call it what you will, they could not be champions. I'd rather listen to them give credit to "higher powers", than claim *they* are a higher power on to themselves. Being humble in victory takes a lot of maturity, and class. :-)
