Since I got some off list enquiries regarding the Hill House tradition at
Laguna, I offer this information for those who might be interested. A number
of people on this list were at the dinner last year, and I am sure they have
good memories of that night.
Ah, the Hill House or Bevel Villa or Pantah Villa as we call it, is a house
that we rent at Los Laureles lodge on Carmel Valley road. We divide up the
house into bed space, couch space, and floor space, and this year we will be
providing air mattresses to floor sleepers. The Hill House is super easy to
get to from the track, just come out the main entrance, take a left turn, go
a short few hundred yards, and take the Los Laureles grade, an uncrowded and
fun ride that comes out on Carmel Valley Rd. Turn left and a mile or so
down the road is the lodge. If you look at the website, the Hill House is in
the center photo at the top, and has a great porch with a nice view of the
valley. There is also a hot tub and our own parking area.
On friday nite, we have an Ducati dinner, with superb homebrew beer from a
chemical engineer type (my son Aaron) and lots of good food. No one has gone
hungry yet, with everything from grilled foods, seafood, spaghetti, and New
Mexican style cuisine including enchiladas and other good stuff. This year,
we will have the house for Thurs thru Sun nites, and rates are based on a 3
nite stay. We haven't quite worked the equation for how we will do the rates
yet but will have that soon. The dinner will be $15 per person (up from
$10, because of the expenses weren't quite being met, with all the beer and
variety of food). We have a lively crowd for the dinner, and Ducati is
spoken everywhere plus lots of really cool bikes to look at, including many
of those in the museum.
If you have an interest in quarters, please let me know off list. As we get
closer to the event in July, I will start getting an approximate headcount
of folks planning to attend the dinner on friday nite. Best chance you will
have to meet real Ducati people in an informal setting.
Perhaps you will even get Ms Vicki and Rich Lambrechts to offer an opinion
on their experience at the friday nite dinner.
Peter
