[Ducati] 1098 Superbike

Right on the money Keith.  I for one loved the design of the 916...998.
When the 999 was first introduced I was a bit taken back by the new design
and I really did not like it.  The 999 design has since grown on me and I
think it is one of the most stylish and beautiful motorcycles out there.
Perhaps, Ducati should have done a new design that incorporates the 999 &
916 designs but to do a 180 on the 999 design is a big mistake.  If people
want a new 916 all they will have to do is wait twenty years until Ducati
releases the Foggy 916 classic.

  What you see is accurate.  Here is what I was told from a high level
Ducati exec:
  "Regarding the new 1098 (not 1200cc) we are ready to show the bike in the
next milan show in november. The bike will have (as the 916) single side
swingarm and underseat oval silencers. the front fairing is ispirated from
the 916.
  I confirm that on the track will be the faster one!"
   
  So look forward to November Milan Show!
   
  Personnally I think settling back to the 916 look is week and shows lack
of new thinking but I still hope it is hot!!     I really love the look of
the 999 weather it is popular or not!   It is definately not mistakable for
anything but a Duck and that alone makes it reatg!   If they start designing
look alike Japanese bikes I will be very sad!   
   
  But in a nut shell I think that reverting back to the 916, all though one
of the sexiest bikes ever designed...it still shows lack of design
innovation and leadership!
