You are too funny, Ron. I enjoy reading your posts, as well as the various
other more colorful characters that I have gotten to know (and meet a
couple-(Peter, George, Kevin)). Although I am not in a Ren & Stimpy viewing
phase of my life right now, I still think of it as one of the funniest
things I have ever watched. Souht Park, anyone? I think I saw a bike on the
show once...........yea.......it was a Ducati, I
think...........yea......... (fictitious Duc content.........)

>>Wow, so many messages! Great to see such interest on the list.

>>Yes, I am well aware of Rossi's ability as a test rider, isn't that in
>>fact
>>a necessary requirement for a great rider, to be able to diagnose
>>difficulties and sort them out? Many riders have merely started with great
>>bikes, done minimal improvement and with a lack of competition, won two
>>or
>>three titles. The great ones persevere under different conditions, with
>>different bikes and find a way to win. That is why, to my thinking, the
>>guy
>>who only wins with one brand of bike is not the greatest rider. It is the
>>ability to adapt to different conditions that separates the great ones.
>>Hailwood had it, Rossi has it, many others don't.
>>
>>Most important of all, to any racer, is the crew chief. That person is
>>responsible for translating the desires of the rider into action taken.
>>When
>>I worked for Galles Kraco racing in Albuquerque, the crew chief for Al
>>Unser
>>Jr. was totally tuned into Al's needs, but the crew chief for Bobby Rahal
>>was not as intimitely connected. Result, Jr. won the PPG championship
>>altho
>>arguably, Bobby was the better driver.
>>
>>But the bottom line to me is that Nicky Hayden had a chance to win one of
>>those "*" championships, where all the good guys got sidelined. Instead as
>>it stacks up, Nicky needs to get tough and play hard or he will lose the
>>championship. This, will make Nicky a better rider, if anything will.
>>Nicky
>>has yet to put a major foot wrong this year. However his results have been
>>very conservative at times. Now is the time for Nicky to show both smarts
>>and ability. I am rooting for that all the way, and mainly because Nicky
>>has
>>shown himself to be a consumate sportsman. Not a whining Colin Edwards,
>>nor
>>a blame shifting Nakano, but a true competitor.
>>
>>Go Nicky, GO!!!!
